Speaking to the media following the weekly Assam cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Sarma announced that the event is scheduled for November 20.
Digital Desk: After setting a Guinness World Record with a massive Bihu performance, the Assam government is now setting its sights on a remarkable 'Jhumur' dance display to highlight the tea tribe community of the state. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, however, clarified that this effort is not intended to pursue a world record immediately.
Speaking to the media following the weekly Assam cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Sarma announced that the event is scheduled for November 20. He noted that the plan was thoroughly discussed with district commissioners during the recent two-day DC Conference.
Sarma stated, "Last year, we made history with the largest Bihu performance, featuring 12,000 artists at the Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati. This year, we aim to showcase a Jhumur dance display at the same venue, featuring 8,000 performers from 800 tea gardens across the state's districts."
The Chief Minister revealed that a song for the performance has already been recorded and will be released shortly. "The song has been recorded and will be released in a day or two. We have carefully reviewed the performance details with the DCs to address any issues from our previous attempt," Sarma said.
He emphasized that the goal is to inspire Jhumur artists and performers and to elevate the tea tribe community of Assam into the spotlight.
