GUWAHATI: Assam on Tuesday recorded six more COVID-19 deaths which took the toll to 5,813.

The coronavirus caseload in the state increased to 5.99 lakh as 441 more people tested positive for the infection.

Charaideo, Dibrugarh, Hojai, Jorhat, Karimganj and Udalguri districts reported one death each.

The current death rate is 0.97 per cent and the number of COVID-19.

Of the new cases, 129 were reported from Kamrup (M), 56 in Golaghat, 37 in Lakhimpur, and 29 in Jorhat.

The new cases were detected out of 64,421 tests conducted on Tuesday with the daily positivity rate at 0.68 per cent.

On the other hand, as many as 338 people recovered from the disease during the day, taking the total number of recoveries to 5.88 lakh.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state currently stands at 98.18 per cent. Assam now has 3,734 active cases.

The state has so far tested 2.30 crore samples for COVID-19.

Over 2.25 crore people have been inoculated in the state so far, with 48.57 lakh of them having received both doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
