The workers are concerned about their future security, as the privatization decision was made without prior discussions.

Digital Desk: Workers from Isabheel Tea Estate in Shreebhumi district of Assam are protesting  to settle  their pending benefits and payment settlement as the garden is set  to be privatized. The workers joined representatives from the garden panchayat rallied in front of the Ichabil Mazdoor Sangh office on Sunday to demonstrate their opposition.

The garden panchayat president Raj Kurmi affirmed that employees learned about government impending garden privatization then requested payments of past benefits along with basic food assistance and housing benefits. The workers demand that retired workers receive employment benefits along with strict enforcement of the government-mandated minimum wage amount of Rs 228.

Workers fear their employment security due to the lack of discussions regarding privatization between the panchayat or laborers. The workforce continues to make appeals to two important people of the region: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and local MLA and Assam Minister Krishnendu Paul to generate actions that fulfill the workers' needs.
The workers present these essential requests to management.


The workers request full payment of their outstanding wages together with their benefits.
The workers require scheduled rations among their list of demands.
The workers demand that the government provides designated housing accommodations for its labor force.
Laborers are asking for job opportunities which they need to offer to relatives of retired workers.
The workers want the government to maintain Rs 228 as the daily wage rate which was declared by authorities.
