New Delhi: Crimes against women continue to rule the crime book of the country even after stricter laws and punishments being implemented against the perpetrators.
The national capital has seen a rise in crimes against women this year. There has been a jump in crimes by 20 per cent in molestation and rape cases till October 2021.
Till October 31st, a total of 1,429 rape cases were registered by Delhi Police compared to 1,725 in the same month last year. While molestation cases rose to 20.43 per cent to 2,157 as opposed to 1,791 in October last year.

Quoting police sources, the report said the rise in crimes against women is being seen as post-COVID opening up as the cases are almost similar to 2019 and preceding years, according to a report in Times of India.
Delhi reported 28 per cent fall in rape cases between January and October in 2020, a sharp decline compared to 2019. Similarly, molestation cases also declined by 32.91 per cent in 2020.
Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana has directed all senior police officials to adopt a ‘Zero-tolerance’ policy for crimes against women. DCPs of all districts have been directed to monitor probes into rape cases especially in cases the victim is a minor.
