The unchecked movement of such trucks not only endangers human lives but now, tragically, has begun to claim the lives of wild animals as well.
Digital Desk: A deer was killed in the Baksa district after a speeding dumper truck hit it and fled away from the scene. The tragic incident occurred in the Mayangpara colony of Fatemabad Tea Estate, which is under the Bahbari range near Manas National Park. The deer strayed out from the protected forest area territory and was struck mercilessly by the speeding dumper truck and it also drag the animal over an extended distance before fleeing the scene.
The Baksa district transport department imposed restrictions on the movement of dumper trucks; however, these heavy trucks operate freely and without any supervising body. The unchecked movement of these vehicles without restrictions endangers both human lives and now they begun the lives of wild animals.
Nature lovers and local conservationists are demanding immediate action from the administration. The authorities should implement better traffic enforcement, specifically in areas where wildlife reserves exist. The tragic death of this innocent deer is a stark reminder that protecting wildlife goes beyond the boundaries of national parks — it demands responsibility and action from every corner of society.
