Digital Desk: Over 12,800 teachers in Indian schools have been designated as Innovation Ambassadors by the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The SIC is a project of the top educational organisations in India to create the ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship with schools.

According to a statement from the ministry, the SIC has been set up in schools to advance the goal of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which is to sustainably encourage ideation, unconventional thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurship at the school education level.

"The demographic dividend we discuss is still valid through 2047. Since we cannot predict the difficulties that lie ahead, it is crucial that all children develop their creativity and capacity for innovation. Anita Karwal, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, MoE, stated that in order to foster inventive skills, we must move beyond textbooks.

Additionally, Ms. Karwal urged parents and educators to engage kids in activities that will excite and advance their skills and bring them closer to the world around them.

In order to allow students to focus on building 21st-century abilities outside of the classroom, she continued, "the new national curriculum framework will provide a highly-reduced, core-essential curriculum."

Professor Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE, expressed his delight over the "Triveni Sangam" of all top educational organisations for the launch, saying that this initiative will foster a culture of ideation, innovation, entrepreneurship, creative thinking, design thinking, prototyping, out-of-the-box thinking, and IP commercialization even among schoolchildren.

A leadership speak, a panel discussion with successful innovators or entrepreneurs, and field visits for programme identification and prioritisation are all part of the SIC calendar of events. The top POCs and prototypes from around India will then be displayed, and some promising startup concepts may even receive funding.
