The Cabinet reshuffle at the Centre, Rashtrapati Bhawan is all set to form a new government body. Rashtrapati Bhawan announced gubernatorial appointments, along with Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawarchand Gehlot as Governor of Karnataka, replacing Vajubhai Vala. The Cabinet reshuffle decision was on hold due to the Covid-19 situation hovering around the states. The decision is likely to come to pass as early as Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.
In the Cabinet reshuffle, Former Chief Ministers and MPs will be a part of the new Cabinet. Former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi will also be a part of the Cabinet. Former Ministers and MPs have been expecting a bigger and better place in the ministry body.
Although, there has been a buzz going around that Former Chief Minister Sonowal, will get a berth in the Union council after denying a second term. Sonowal was Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and sports from 2014-16, before reigning as Assam Chief Minister. With the Cabinet reshuffle decision, everyone in Assam including the people of Majuli has been awaiting his position in the ministry body. Sonowal hails from Majuli and as former chief minister, every one from his constituency is expecting to be in a bigger position in the ministry body. But, the question lies on who is likely to get the bigger piece of the cake.
In June, Assam Chief Minister Himanata Biswa Sarma in New Delhi stated to the media about Sonowal getting new responsibilities. Sarma stated that the Central leadership will take up the decision about Sonowal, and new responsibility will be given into consideration looking at Sonowal’s past experiences.
The new role in the ministry body is creating a sensation among the minds of the people as everyone awaits the final results. Sarbananda Sonowal was the president of the All Assam Students Union (AASU) from 1992 to 1999. His constant struggle against the illegal immigrants led him to earn the title ‘Jatir Nayak’.
Apart from this, the fresh appointees are former MP and former BJP president of Andhra Pradesh K Hari Babu as Governor of Mizoram. Senior BJP leader and former Tribal Affairs Minister in Gujarat Mangubhai Patel as Governor of Madhya Pradesh and former Speaker of the Goa Assembly Rajendra Arlekar as Himachal Pradesh Governor.
The Cabinet decision is yet to get declared and the final decision will be out soon. The cake has been cut and now everyone is expecting the bigger piece on their plate. Till the results, time will say who rejoices the bigger piece.
