US Marshals in the Central District of California on Tuesday transferred custody of Tahawwur Rana.

Digital Desk: On 11th April, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to  X, formerly known as Twitter, to share his emotional memories from the dark night when the 26/11 terror strikes targeted Mumbai. In the tweet, he revealed that when the terror attack occurred he was in Mumbai and initially had planned to stay at the Taj Hotel; however, he moved to an different hotel, due to last last-minute change in plans. The sudden hotel change saved him from the tragic events that struck the Taj Hotel.

Sarma penned his words to state that he would always remember the terror from that night, which he witnessed first-hand during the NSG operation. He  also shared the haunting thought that kept echoing in his mind during those moments: "Karma will one day find the planners behind this assault."

16 years later, it appears to some extent that the nation has taken a step closer to justice. Indian authorities have received Pakistani-Canadian Tahawwur Rana following his extradition from the United States regarding his role in the 26/11 attacks. Rana was transferred to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs personnel by U.S. Marshals from the Central District of California on Tuesday.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) holds Rana custody for eighteen days.  During this period, the authorities will exhaustively interrogate him about the complete nature of the 2008 attack conspiracy that resulted in 166 deaths and injured over 238 people.

Rana is now in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for 18 days. During this period, he will be extensively interrogated to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy behind the 2008 attacks, which claimed 166 lives and left over 238 injured.

The extradition will allow Indian prosecutors to conduct a trial for one of the absent defendants who received a charge sheet for the 26/11 attacks, and reveals Pakistan connections, and improves justice delivery after the catastrophic terrorist assault. Ajmal Kasab, the only one of the 10 LeT gunmen caught alive, was convicted and hanged in 2012.

He concluded by expressing confidence through his words that with strong leadership, it will prevent those who plan attacks on India from undertaking such actions.
