New Delhi: For the first time, nine new judges, including three women took oath as judges of the Supreme Court.

The total number of judges at the apex court now stands at 33.

A swearing-in ceremony was held in the auditorium of the Supreme Court’s additional complex building and chief justice of India N V Ramana administered the oath of office to the new judges.

With the nine new judges, the strength of the Supreme Court would increase to 33 including the CJI, out of the sanctioned strength of 34.

The nine judges who will be taking oath include Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari, Justice BV Nagarathna, Justice Hima Kohli, and Justice Vikram Nath.
Justice CT Ravikumar, Justice Bela M Trivedi, Justice M M Sundresh and senior advocate former Additional Solicitor General PS Narasimha will also be administered oath of office by the CJI
