It does not look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war
Digital Desk: The Indian Premier League 2025 has now been postponed indefinitely due to increased military concerns over the border between India and Pakistan, the BCCI said on Friday. The decision follows an impromptu cancellation of the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals game on May 8 at Dharamsala, which occurred midway, because of the air raid warnings from the surrounding regions of Jammu and Pathankot.
The match was further disrupted when an entire blackout occurred in the venue, suspected to be related to an aerial threat around the Indo-Pak border. The fans were evacuated, and the players were quickly transported to their hotels when panic started to spread in the stadium.
A senior BCCI official, when speaking to PTI said: “It does not look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war”, indicating the severity of the national situation. The BCCI had summoned an emergency meeting on Thursday night to take stock of the threat and decide the fate of the tournament. As security concerns heighten and uncertainty hangs over future games pending games, the board eventually decided to hold off the tournament for the safety of the public and the players.
