He was arrested on campus in connection with an Ishan Uday Scholarship fraud.

Digital Desk: One acting principal of a college in Assam's Barpeta district was arrested on Sunday in connection with a student scholarship fraud.

According to authorities, the acting principal has been identified as Sirajul Haque, who worked at Janapriya College in the region of Baniapara.

He was arrested on campus in connection with an Ishan Uday Scholarship fraud.

Five people were arrested last month in connection with the district's scholarship scheme, including the College principal.

The principal was identified as Manik Ali of Barpeta Bongaigaon College.

Along with Ali, the college's junior assistant, Abul Bashar, and junior assistants from other institutions in Baniyarapara, Sajidul Islam, Khabiruddin, and Salim Malik, were detained.

It should be noted that a scam occurred at a few institutions in the areas in which crores of rupees were embezzled under the guise of the Ishan Uday Scholarship.

The Ishan Uday Scholarship is a scheme under which the union government awards scholarships to deserving students from minority communities.
