Digital Desk: India has welcomed the deal on the release of hostages and ceasefire in Gaza on Thursday. The long-awaited negotiation between Israel and Hamas was completed on Wednesday evening. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the agreement will lead to a safe and sustained supply of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.

The statement of MEA said, "We welcome the announcement of the agreement for the release of hostages and a ceasefire in Gaza. We hope this will lead to a safe and sustained supply of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. We have consistently called for the release of all hostages, ceasefire, and return to a path of dialogue and diplomacy."

The agreement could end a war of more than 15 months. US President Joe Biden announced that the negotiation between Israel and Hamas is to be unfolded in three phases.

Releasing a statement, US President Joe Biden said, "Today, after many months of intensive diplomacy by the United States, along with Egypt and Qatar, Israel and Hamas have reached a ceasefire and hostage deal. This deal will halt the fighting in Gaza, surge much-needed
humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians, and reunite the hostages with their families after more than 15 months in captivity."

Briefing the Doha-based talk, a diplomat said, "The final deal is now with all sides for approval. The next 24 hours will be pivotal to reaching the deal."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hold a talk with US President-elect Donald Trump and President Joe Biden after the agreement.

The armed conflict between Israel and Palestine has been taking place since October 7, 2023. The deadliest war began when Hamas-led Palestine attacked Israel and killed around 2000 people. They also captivated 251 people during the attack.
