Uddhav Thackeray has reportedly been messaging a few rebel MLAs who are currently residing in  Guwahati's Radisson Blu hotel.

Digital Desk: The political crisis continues to unfold in Maharashtra, and amid this, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's wife, Rashmi Thackeray, has been contacting the wives of other MLAs to convince them to speak to their husbands.

Uddhav Thackeray has reportedly been messaging a few rebel MLAs who are currently residing in  Guwahati's Radisson Blu hotel.

Following a national executive meeting with Sena leaders on Saturday, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray moved the Election Commission (EC) to prohibit any other political group or faction from using the names of the Shiv Sena and its late founder, Balasaheb Thackeray.

Eknath Shinde, along with a number of other MLAs, went into hiding after the MLC poll results, which precipitated the current political turmoil. They are currently camped up in a Guwahati hotel. Since then, more MLAs, including independents, have joined the opposition.

The Maharashtra Assembly has a total membership of 287, with 144 constituting the majority in the event of a trust vote. Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress hold 169 seats in the ruling alliance. The Maha Vikas Aghadi's (MVA) strength will drop below the majority mark if the MLAs led by Shinde do decide to quit, which will result in the demise of the Uddhav Thackeray-led government.
