Digital Desk: Under the authority of Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the District Magistrate of Imphal East District has announced a temporary relaxation of the curfew hours to help the general people access necessities like food and medicines.

Since September 3, 2023, there has been a curfew that restricts people's movements outside of their homes. However, the District Magistrate has issued a new order in recognition of the necessity to provide relief to residents and let them buy necessary supplies.

On September 29, 2023, residents of Imphal East District will be permitted to move around freely between the hours of 5 AM and 11 AM to purchase essential items. While maintaining law and order in the district, this relaxation is meant to make daily life easier for the populace.

It is important to note that this relaxation does not cover rallies, sit-in protests, large-scale crowd movements, or any other unlawful activity. To ensure the safety and security of the general public, the authorities will continue to enforce limitations on such activities.

Additionally, people working in important sectors such as health, PHED (Public Health Engineering Department), municipal officials and staff, power (MSPDCL/MSPCL), gas stations, CAF&PD (Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution), media personnel, and people involved in court operations will be exempt from additional curfew restrictions. Moreover, individuals traveling to and from the airport for flight purposes will also be exempted from the curfew during these hours.
