Digital Desk: In anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Meghalaya's Shillong and Tura Parliamentary seats, the United Democratic Party (UDP) in Ri Bhoi District encountered a significant setback on Wednesday as numerous top leaders resigned.
Donbok Khymdeit, the Working President of UDP State Wing and Ri Bhoi District Unit, disclosed that several key figures, including leaders from the parent body, Youth Wings, and Women's Wings, have opted to leave the party and discontinue their association with UDP.
Khymdeit clarified that their departure was based on personal decisions rather than internal disputes within the UDP. While these departing leaders have not yet revealed plans to join other political parties in Meghalaya, Khymdeit noted that such intentions may be disclosed in due course.
Among the notable figures stepping down from UDP Ri Bhoi District Unit are Bah Donbok Khymdeit, Bah Raphael Massar, Bah Rangkynsai R Makdoh, Kong Queen Mary Rymbai, and others, totalling 31 individuals.
