Saikia played a pivotal role in exposing several individuals linked to the APSC scam

Digital Desk: The key witness, Mrigen Saikia, who testified in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) scandal case, passed away at the age of  60, due to cardiac arrest. Saikia died at his Bogoribari,  Bataghuli residence, and he was a former veterinary officer. His last rites are scheduled to be performed tomorrow.

During the B.K. Sharma Commission Saikia conducted explosive testimony, which exposed numerous individuals involved in the APSC scam. Saikia acted as a middleman between candidates seeking ADO position appointments while maintaining a deep relationship with Rakesh Paul, who served as APSC chairman and faced criminal charges.

Saikia was suspended on November 28, 2016, from his service when information emerged showing his participation in the scandal.  Doctors have identified his death as unexpected, while his relatives keep the media out of their property and refuse to talk publicly about the situation.

His demise marks a significant moment in the ongoing investigation into one of Assam’s most high-profile corruption scandals.
