Digital Desk: Mumbai set a new single-day record with 20,181 new Covid cases and four deaths on Thursday. There are currently 79,260 active cases. Today, Mumbai's positivity rate was reported to be 29.9%. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) collected 67,000 test samples on Thursday.
On Thursday, Maharashtra reported 36,265 Covid-19 cases and 13 deaths. In total, 8,907 people were released from hospitals. On Thursday, the state reported 79 new Omicron cases, bringing the total number to 876.

Meanwhile, in a first for the city, all residents of sealed buildings in the K-west ward, which includes the western suburb of Andheri (west), will undergo a mandatory rapid antigen test (RAT) for detection of Covid-19. According to the letter issued by the ward office on Tuesday, residents who refuse to take the test will face severe consequences.
Also, Mumbai on Wednesday crossed a major milestone of administering over 1 crore first doses of coronavirus vaccines to eligible citizens nearly a year after the nationwide inoculation programme was launched, the city civic body said. According to a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) release, considering both first and second doses, over 1.81 crore vaccine shots have been administered to people in Mumbai since the vaccination drive was launched on January 16, 2021.
