Digital Desk: Under the guidance of the Coordinator Committee of Electricity Employees, Engineers, and Pensioners of Assam, workers in the state's power sector demonstrated against the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2022 on Monday at the Bijulee Bhavan. However, bearing in mind the convenience of the general public, the demonstrators made sure that the power supply remained uninterrupted throughout the strike.

One of the demonstrators said, "Infrastructure worth Rs 7 lakh crore would be transferred for privatization through the passing of this Bill. While the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) would continue to run the network in name only, the government has welcomed private companies to distribute electricity in lucrative areas of the State."
