Digital Desk: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday announced the names of the six candidates set to participate in the upcoming Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) Elections. The elections are scheduled to commence on April 2 and conclude with the counting of votes on April 4.

The polling will be held on April 2 from 7 am to 3 pm in 630 designated polling stations. The counting of votes will take place from 8 am on April 4, with the results to be declared on the same day.

During a press meet in Jorhat, Lok Sabha MP and the state president Dilip Saikia announced the names of the BJP candidates. The candidates are Suchitra Nath for the 15-Agia constituency, Bhairab Kachari for the 2-Kothakuthi constituency (ST), Premajali Rabha for the 20-Jayramkuchi constituency (ST) Women, Meghali Rabha for the 22-Bondapara constituency (ST), Ajit Rabha for the 30-Bamunigaon constituency, and Kamaleswar Rabha for the 35-Shilpota constituency (ST).

MP Saikia officially declared the names of the candidates following the final decision taken during the State Election Committee meeting.  

Dilip Saikia in his press meet said, "Out of the 36 constituencies, BJP will contest in six, while the Rabha Hasong Joutho Sangrami Mancha will contest in 29 constituencies. One constituency will be for the Assam Gana Parishad (AGP), though it has not been confirmed yet."
