Digital Desk: Sunny Deol, a BJP MP and Bollywood actor, has gone missing, according to posters in Punjab's Pathankot. Posters with the slogan 'gumshuda ki talash (search for missing)' have been pasted on the walls of several houses, railway stations, and vehicles throughout the city in protest of the Gurdaspur MP.

Deol was elected on a BJP ticket in the 2019 general election. Those who put up the posters claimed that Deol never returned to Gurdaspur after becoming an MP.

The angry locals demanded that Deol resign if he did not want to work.]

"He never returned to Gurdaspur after becoming an MP. He claims to be the son of Punjab, but he has not brought any industrial development, MP funds, or any central government scheme here "according to media reports

"If he doesn't want to work, he should resign," he continued.

Deol has drawn criticism from rival political parties since being elected as an MP from the constituency. The actor-turned-politician last visited the Gurdaspur-Pathankot corridor in September 2020, when he met with senior officials to discuss the Covid-19 pandemic and other issues. He also met with members of the general public.

Six months had passed since his previous visit. He avoided addressing the public, however, as farmer resentment of the now-repealed three farm laws grew.

Deol also did not campaign for BJP candidates and allies in the recently concluded Punjab assembly elections, despite being in high demand due to his celebrity. Only one seat in the entire Majha region was won by the BJP: Pathankot. Ashwani Sharma, the state president of the BJP, was elected MLA from this seat.
