The area beneath the Jorabat flyover was completely submerged, resembling a flowing river

Digital Desk: A heavy downpour early today morning inundated several parts of Guwahati, including Jorabat. The Jorbarat area is experiencing serious waterlogging, causing widespread disruption.

Runoff water coming from Meghalaya inundated large portions of Highways 27 and 6, resulting in massive traffic jams and chaos for commuters. A large part of Jorabat was underwater, making the area resemble a river and disrupting vehicular movement. Buses and cars were stuck for many hours, which slowed movement in and near the site almost to a halt.

Apart from traffic problems, the artificial flood has affected residential and school-goers. In areas like the 12th Mile, normal daily activities came to a halt as people had to go through waist-deep water to reach their destination.

Several schools were forced to close due to artificial flooding, as many students were unable to attend class. Moreover, some school children were even stranded on the way to their schools as floodwater started to rise.
