New Delhi: Indian cricketer and team’s opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan and Ayesha Mukerji got divorced after eight years of marriage.
Ayesha Mukerji took to Instagram to announce their divorce and also mentioned that she is a two-time divorcee. The couple got married in the year 2012 and also have a child named Zoravar. Ayesha Mukerji is originally from Melbourne and used to be an amateur boxer.
Dhawan is currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with his IPL team Delhi Capitals (DC), as the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to resume after it was halted in May due to the second wave of COVID-19 in India.
Dhawan has been a key player for the Indian Cricket team, especially in the limited-overs format. The left-hander made his ODI debut in 2010 and played his first test match in 2013 for India, scoring a test match century on his debut against Australia. He made his T20 debut in 2011.
Dhawan has played 145 ODIs, 68 T20Is, and 34 Tests for India.
Recently, Dhawan captained a young Indian side in Sri Lanka, with the regular captain Virat Kohli and Vice-Captain Rohit Sharma playing the Test series in England at that time.
Dhawan lead the team to a series victory as India won the ODI series 2-1 but lost the T20 series by the same margin as the team was hit by a COVID crisis.
