Digital Desk: Wrestler Vinesh Phogat was reportedly hospitalized due to severe dehydration shortly after her disqualification from the Paris Olympics. According to sources cited by India Today on Wednesday, Vinesh is currently stable and resting at the Olympic Village polyclinic.

In an unexpected turn of events, Vinesh was disqualified from the women's 50kg final on Wednesday, just one day after her impressive victory over Japan's Yui Susaki. She was found to be overweight by 100 grams, which led to her disqualification despite being on the verge of a historic gold medal.

"She was found overweight by 100 grams this morning. The rules do not permit exceptions, and she has been disqualified," an Indian coach explained. PTI reports that Vinesh's natural weight is around 56-57 kg, requiring significant effort to reduce to the 50kg limit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered words of support to Vinesh.

"Vinesh, you are a champion among champions! You are India's pride and an inspiration for each and every Indian. Today's setback hurts. I wish words could express the sense of despair that I am experiencing," he posted on X.

"At the same time, I know that you epitomise resilience. It has always been your nature to take challenges head on. Come back stronger! We are all rooting for you," he added.

Reports indicate that the Prime Minister has also spoken with IOA President P.T. Usha, urging her to explore all possible options to assist Vinesh's case.
