With instant video messages, users will be able to respond to chats in real-time...

Digital Desk: Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta has announced the launch of video messages on WhatsApp. Users of WhatsApp can now capture and share short, personal videos directly in their chats. The new feature is very similar to audio messages, which have grown in popularity over time in a few days.

With instant video messages, users will be able to respond to chats in real-time with up to 60 seconds of recorded video content, much like the voice messaging function on WhatsApp. End-to-end encryption for video messages has been confirmed by WhatsApp.

In case a few users are unsure of the purpose of this function, WhatsApp has provided several intriguing use cases. It could be about "wishing someone a happy birthday, laughing at a joke, or bringing good news."
Similar to sending a voice message, sending a video message is simple. Users can quickly switch to video mode while in a chat by tapping and holding the record button to record their own video message. Users of WhatsApp can swipe up to lock the app and record hands-free videos.

Users around the world should expect to see this feature in their WhatsApp apps in the upcoming weeks since the video message rollout has already started.

Following the release of Meta's Q2 results, which showed excellent growth, the news of the new feature was announced. Meta was able to outperform expectations for the second straight quarter. The boost in Meta's revenue has been attributed to better advertising reach made achievable by AI and Instagram Reels. On the near-term roadmap for Meta are Llama 2, Threads, Reels, new AI products, and the much-anticipated fall release of Quest 3.
