Subhadeep Halder, a class VI student, was taken to the local doctor after becoming ill after swallowing water after returning from school, according to close relatives of the deceased.

Digital Desk: After allegedly drinking tainted water in Mathuapur in the Nadia district on Saturday, a 12-year-old pupil in that area died and at least 50 locals were ill.

After a youngster, Subhadeep Halder, 12, passed away on Saturday, the incident came to light.

Many villagers in Mathurapur, according to the locals, have become ill in recent days. The passing of a teenager shocked the villagers. Others have had diarrhea.

He was transported to the Saktinagar district hospital when his condition got worse. He was then directed to a Kalyani government hospital. Midway through his sickness, he passed away.

The town has already received a medical team. At least 11 residents were taken to the hospital and placed there in critical condition. Officials believe that this atrocity may have been caused by contaminated water. There are further studies under progress. Villagers' drinking water samples have been sent for testing.
