Digital Desk: The New Year is believed to be the best time to invest and buy assets globally. Thus, the car manufacturers begin their race to attract customers with variations and alterations in the already available models and launch brand new motor machines in the market.
The Indian car market is expected to witness a variety of car segments that fall within the range of Rs 10 Lac to Rs 20 Lac price bracket.
The most popular car segment in the year 2021 was SUV, Sedans scored the second position, and last but not the least, the MPVs mark their presence in the tally.
Here is a list of the top 10 cars expected to hit the Indian markets in 2022.
The New-gen Mahindra Scorpio
Expected starting price: Rs 10 lakh
The mighty and the muscular Scorpio was introduced in 2002 and since then, it has been ruling the Indian roads. A surprise is waiting for all the Scorpio fans out there.
Mahindra made some major updates on its motor machine to give it more power and enhance its looks. The all-new Mahindra Scorpio is crowned with a completely new exterior design and is also expected to be larger than the existing model. The ‘beast’ is redesigned and is inspired by the ladder-frame chassis of the all-new Thar.
The interior of the upcoming Scorpio will also be completely new, boasting a larger touchscreen, vertical AC vents, roof-mounted speakers, and a more ergonomic design – switchgear can be shared with the XUV700. Under the hood, the new Scorpio will be powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine and a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine. Top-spec variants could also come with an AWD system. The Scorpio is expected to launch in the first half of the year, and prices could largely overlap the XUV700.

The all-new NextGen 2022 Scorpio could get a flat–bottom leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, its infotainment system will likely be offered with a large touchscreen infotainment system and a sunroof. Though additional charges will be included for the inclusion of these services. Mahindra has always put Safety first on its priority list. it will possibly get multiple airbags and electronic stability control.

Tata Altroz EV
Expected starting price: Rs 14 lakh
The Tata car manufacturing unit launched the Tata Altroz in the Indian market in 2020.
This subcompact car received mixed reactions from the public since its launch. The name "Altroz" was inspired by the name of a bird species, the Albatross.
The manufacturers of this variant have decided on some major updates.
To minimize the use of Non – renewable sources of energy, the Tata car manufacturers have decided to upgrade the Altroz into an electronic vehicle.
The cabin of the car could get a rotary to know to switch between various driving modes.
Tata, in a press conference, announced that the Altroz EV will be equipped with an IP67 rated dust and waterproof battery with fast charging capability using the same Ziptron tech as the Nexon EV.
The expected range of this EV is around 300 KM.

The all-new Hyundai Creta
Expected starting price: Rs 10 lakh
The market for Hyundai Creta since 2020 has been fortunate. The makers of Hyundai Creta impressed the fans with the inclusion of top-notch equipment, distinctive designs and multiple drive command options.
The all-new facelifted version of the Nextgen Creta is a hit in Indonesia already, and the same is expected to reach India in the second half of 2022. It sports a new front fascia with a Tucson-like grille and changes to the rear profile as well. The major change in the cabin of the vehicle is the inclusion of a fully digital instrument cluster.
No major changes have been made in the Power drive section of the car. The updated Creta will continue with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (115PS/144Nm), 1.5-litre oil burner (115PS/250Nm), and 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol (140PS and 242Nm). Each of these will get a manual and automatic option, a first for the turbo-petrol unit in the Creta.

Facelifted Kia Seltos
Expected starting price: Rs 10.5 lakh
‘Movement that Inspires’ as the tagline says the Kia Seltos variant which was launched in India in August 2019 is ready for a revolutionary move in its mid-life facelift.
The Updated model of the Kia Seltos was recently spied and the market launch of the variant is expected later this year.
The company made some slight changes in the variant which includes a renovated front end with updated headlamps and a larger air dam, shiny alloy wheels and redesigned tail lights. Some new features like a fully digital driver’s display and perhaps Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are also expected.
Kia will possibly stick with the current engine options for the 2022 Seltos: 1.5-litre petrol (115PS/144Nm), 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol (140PS/242Nm), and 1.5-litre diesel (115PS/250Nm). Transmission options include a 6-speed manual for all three, a 7-speed DCT (1.4-litre turbo-petrol), a 6-speed torque converter (1.5-litre diesel), and a CVT and a 6-speed iMT clutchless manual (1.5-litre petrol).

Mahindra eXUV300
Expected starting price: Rs 15 lakh
The use of sustainable sources of energy is the prime objective of many automotive companies, thus Mahindra is all set to launch its most loved variant XUV 300 (Electric). First showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo in concept form, the production-ready electric XUV 300 is expected to be launched this year.
The eXUV300 is expected to feature some visually distinguishing enhancements over the ICE(Internal Combustion Engines) version, including a closed front grille, redesigned alloy wheels and blue accents. It will be Mahindra’s first long-range EV offering and it is expected to have a total range of around 300-350 km.
