Guwahati: Six migrant workers from Assam have been found dead after they fell into a 150 feet pit in a forest in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills. It is the same district where 15 men died in December 2018 inside an illegal rat hole mine after it collapsed.

As per reports, the locals have alleged that the migrant workers whose dead bodies have been recovered were digging an illegal coal mine.

However, the state government has denied the presence of any such coal mine in the area and that the workers were involved in cutting and shaping hard soil for other purposes.
